I'm pretty sure that your car needs at least a 91 octane rating. Any less than that can screw up your engine. Learned it in chemistry and saw a special news segment on it.

I also learned in chemistry that almost all gas brands are basically the same. Its a marketing gig to say that it does this and that and has this and that.

Like Cheveron - Techron isn't even a real chemical, its a made up name they use because if they use a real chemical name, than they would have to put that chemical in their formula.

Even when gas companies put in certain chemicals to "enhance" the performance of your engine, they put in so little to save them cost that it doesn't even make a difference. Its only in there so that they can state that its in their gas. This is just what I learned in my chemistry class. So please don't attack me if you have proof to prove otherwise. The regular and mid grade gas tends to almost always be the same - in fact the same truck can deliever to multiple stations.

However, the premium grade gas say Amoco Ultimate is a specific blend for that specific company. It has additives that the other grades may not have - and it tends to have these in enough quantity to make a difference. Many users see this difference in MPG with different brands.
