Is there anyone out there that has any experience with a Pilot or other vehicle of equal towing capacity? Thank you for any info I have a Honda Pilot without a factory installed hitch. I had a hitch installed and the wiring for the trailer. I have had no problems pulling with my pilot, even without the factory towing package. I am careful to watch my temperature gauge as my mechanic told me to do.

I would highly recommend it for your Casita TV. We consider the Pilot with a sway bar and Casita a match. We have the stock towing package with the brake wiring and 7pin connector addition. As Joe and Gayle mentioned, our mileage Is between mpg depending on the driving conditions. Not sure how the 17 footer's extra lbs or so will reduce performance. With wet payment slippery starts I have heard the 4WD kick in and the downhill assist seems to adjust to the trailer load.

I'm thinking the 17 footer tongue weight may be a consideration and might require an equailzer. It has the factory tow package, which can be duplicated with a tow bar and transmission cooler, and it is 4WD. I added the brake controller and 7 pin conector, and use a sway bar. The Pilot tows it very well with no tendancy to sway. We live in Estes Park, CO at '. We love the Pilot and have no plans to trade it in. As usual, the least expensive vehicle is the one you have.

They designed the vehicle. I would take their advise over that of dealer personel. Adding the towing equipment would be a lot cheaper than trading vehicles. Woodworking, Golf, Swimming, working out, gardening, fishing, camping hopefully Gender: Unless you want to tow downhill all the time or with a wind at your back. The gas mileage will really suffer and it's basically underpowered. If you do decide to keep it, buy a 13 or 16 ft Casita.

We tow with a Honda Ridgeline our 17 ft. We get about 12 mpg and that is not acceptable, in fact it makes us wonder where is the real economics of doing it. I would highly recommend looking for another choice for a TV. Hope this helps, believe me Honda has no clue as to why there vehicle has poor mileage Biscuit '09 LD 17 ft.
